Confirmation is a young person’s opportunity to affirm their baptism and become
a voting member of Prince of Peace Congregation.
In
order to help them on this journey we have developed this program to reinforce
the things they have learned so far and give them a foundation for the future.
Pastor Chuck and Pastor Kris believe that confirmation should be a priority in
your life, and hope that you will make every effort to attend every class
session and complete the service expectations. When school or sports or family
commitments conflict, it is your decision as a family how to set your
priorities. Please talk with Pastor Kris if you have any concerns or questions.
Sunday Morning Ministry
Confirmands are not the “church of tomorrow”, they are the ministers of today!
As part of their confirmation journey we ask the confirmands to do some very
important ministries on Sunday morning. Acolytes, Crucifers, Banner Bearers and
Sound technicians are integral pieces of the Sunday morning worship experience.
Acolytes, Banner Bearers and Crucifers assist in leading worship and serving
communion. The Sound technicians ensure that everyone can experience worship and
hear the sermon. We rely on the Youth Nursery volunteer to care for the younger
members of the congregation as we worship. Sunday School assistants help teach
children the Bible stories that serve as a foundation for their own faith
journeys.
We expect confirmands to serve 2 times a month on Sunday.
January Retreat
This
January we will have a weekend retreat designed to relieve “cabin fever”, help
you bond with your classmates, and enhance your confirmation experience. More
information about the time and place of this retreat will be available in the
fall.
Confirmation Camp
Confirmation Camp takes place each summer at SonRise Camp, the week following
the 4th of July. (possibly July 10th-15th 2005) This week long camp gathers
Junior High youth from around the Capital District for a week of fun, fellowship
and faith formation. At camp you can “walk the talk” without wondering what
everyone else thinks, because everyone will be walking the same way! All
students are expected to attend Confirmation Camp. Cost for camp is
approximately $200.
